Oaks prove to be too much for Red Hawks

ATHERTON, Calif. - Simpson University men's basketball team played their last regular season conference game against Menlo College on Saturday, Feb. 19. The Oaks defeated the Red Hawks 92-73.

Simpson was only down five at halftime; Menlo only had a 49-44 lead. In the second half, however, the Red Hawks were outscored 43-29. Simpson shot 38 percent from the field and 23 percent from three-point land. Menlo shot a blistering 57 percent from the field and 40 percent from behind the arc.

Simpson junior Bryan Castillo had a game high 23 points. Senior Pat Magno had 15 points and five assists. Senior Justin Chapel scored 14 points.

Menlo had four players score in double-figures. Drew Davis had a team high 16 points. Dejon Grant scored 14 points, and Tyler Rajnus followed with 12 points. Nick McCullar scored 11 points.

The Red Hawks return to action in the California Pacific Conference Tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 23 against No. 2 seed CSU Maritime in Vallejo, Calif. Simpson earned the No. 6 seed. Tip-off is at 7:30pm.
