Red Hawks lose to Oaks

REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University men's basketball team played Menlo College in a California Pacific Conference match up on Thursday, Jan. 27 in the Heritage Student Life Center. The Red Hawks were defeated by the Oaks 92-71.

The Red Hawks were down 15 points in the first half (49-34). Simpson shot 33 percent from the field. The Oaks shot 57 percent from the field and 44 percent from three-point line.

In the second half, it was much the same. Simpson could never get in a rhythm offensively and the sharp shooting of Julian Harris was too much for the Red Hawks. Menlo defeated Simpson 92-71.

Junior Bryan Castillo led Simpson with 19 points. Senior Justin Chapel followed with 13 points, and sophomore Daniel Bartow contributed 10 points.

Menlo was led by Harris and Tim Tatum who each scored 20 points. Nick McCullar followed with 17 points, eight rebounds, and six assists.

Simpson returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 27 against Pacific Union College in Angwin, Calif. Tip-off set for 8:30 p.m.
