Simpson remains winless with loss against OIT
Simpson University Sports News
REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University men's basketball team took to the court on Tuesday, Nov. 15 against the Owls from Oregon Tech. Simpson once again found themselves on the wrong side of the scoreline, losing 89-54.
The Owls came out on fire and started the game off with a 14-0 run. Robert Hunter led the Owls on the run by scoring six of the 14 points. Simpson's Bryan Castillo's amazing three-point shooting brought the game within eight (17-9). However, the Owls hot shooting was too much for the Red Hawks to handle. They went 9-of-14 from beyond the three-point line and took a 26-point lead into the half (57-31).
The second half was more of the same. The Owls just couldn't miss and the Red Hawks' turnovers wouldn't allow them to get any offensive rhythm going. This led to the Owls being able to cruise to a 35-point victory.
Hunter finished with 21 points and five assists for the Owls. He was helped out by some outstanding shooting from Kyle Gomez who had 16 points, David Clarke who had 11 points, and Bryant Sentman who had 14 points in the winning effort. The one bright spot for the Red Hawks was Bryan Castillo, who had 18 points on the night.
The loss drops the Red Hawks' season record at 0-5. They look to get their first win of the season on Friday, Nov. 18 against Corban College in Salem, Ore. Tip off is at 7:30 p.m.
