Simpson finishes in second in first invitational of the season

VALLEJO, Calif. - Simpson University's men's golf team took to the course for their first tournament this season on Monday, Sept. 19 in the CSU Maritime Invite in Vallejo, Calif. The Red Hawks had a strong outing, finishing second out of the four teams involved in the tournament.
The Red Hawks were lead by senior Mitch Card who finished in third place overall. He shot 150 (+6) for the tournament and was three strokes off of leader Pedro Oviedo from Holy Names University who shot a 147 (+3). Bridger Cotton was second best for the Red Hawks finishing tied for 6th overall with a 152 (+8), followed by Jake West who finished 8th with a score of 153 (+9), Marcus Mezzano who finished 9th with a score 155 (+11), and Nick Maddalena who finished eleventh with a score 157 (+13).
As for the team totals, Holy Names led the way with a total of 597 (+21) followed by the Red Hawks with 609 (+33), Menlo College with 655 (+79) and CSU Maritime in last with 752 (+176).
