Red Hawks tie for seventh at NCCAA nationals

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. - The Red Hawks entered the final round of play at the NCCAA Championship at The Hombre Golf Club in Panama City Beach, Fla., on Wednesday, Oct. 26. They had their work cut out for them as the entered the day in sixth place looking to jump into the top five.
The Lancers of California Baptist University laid claim to their first NCCAA men's golf title by firing an event low team score of 291. That score gave CBU a three-day total of 887 (+23), which was good enough for a 14 shot victory over Dallas Baptist University who finished at 901 (+37). Southeastern University finished third at 903 (+39) and North Greenville University was fourth at 906 (+42). The Red Hawks finished tied for seventh place after shooting a combined 309 on the round to put their three day total at 920 (+56).
In the individual race, Justin Burns of Central Baptist College won medalist honors with a three-under par total of 213. Tim Tait of California Baptist University was runner-up at one-under par 215. Red Hawk Mitch Card shot a 72 propelling himself into a tie for sixth place with a three round total of 220 (+4) earning him 2011 All-American Honors. As for the rest of the Red Hawks, Nick Maddalena finished in 21st (+13), Jake West finished in 32nd place (+16), Marcus Mezzano was in 46th place (+23) and Bridger Cotton finished in 56th place (+31).
