Menlo ends Simpson's win streak

REDDING, Calif. - The Red Hawks men's soccer team took to the field on Wednesday, Oct. 19 to take on the Oaks from Menlo College. They lost 6-1.
The Red Hawks came out of the gate very flat and the Oaks punished them for it scoring twice within the first 10 minutes when Matheus Barbosa scored in the 4th minute and Alex Vukic scored in the 10th minute assisted by Sam Zipperstein. The Oaks weren't done there in the first half. Guissepe Frattaroli made it 3-0 in the 17th minute when he scored a goals assisted by Daniel Martinez. The Red Hawks just couldn't find any rhythm on the offensive end and the teams would take a 3-0 score into the half.
In the second half, it was more poor defending for the Red Hawks as the Oaks exploited it again in the 59th minute when Vukic scored his second goal. Then just two minutes later Barbosa added his second to make it 5-0. Enrique Ortiz make it 6-0 just three minutes after Barbosa's goal. Nate Butterfield scored late in the match for Simpson to bring the final score to 6-1.
The loss puts the Red Hawks record at 4-8 on the season and 2-4 in the Cal Pac. The Oaks remain undefeated in the Cal Pac. Up next for the Red Hawks will be a match up against the Keelhaulers on Tuesday, Oct. 25 in Vallejo, Calif., at 6 p.m.
