This Week: The Red Hawks drew Reinhardt University in the second day of Pool G play. The first pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. (PDT) on Friday.
Scouting the Eagles: The Eagles won both the regular season and tournament championships in the Appalachian Athletic Conference and finished the year thirteenth in the national rankings.
Scouting the Red Hawks: Simpson finished third in the California Pacific Conference regular season standings and won the Unaffiliated Group #1 (California Pacific/Frontier) Tournament this season sending the Red Hawks to Gulf Shores.
Last Time Out: This is the first meeting between the two schools and they have no common opponents.
National Appearances: This is Simpson's first trip to the National Tournament. This is also Reinhardt's first trip to the National Championship.
Getting To Know Reinhardt University: Reinhardt started in 1884 as a grammar school and in 1885, the school moved from a small wood shop to the current campus location. In 1890, the school changed its name to Reinhardt Normal College and in 1911, it dropped the 'normal' from its name. The school had its first graduating class in 1921 and in 1957, it began classes with only college-age students for the first time in the schools history. In 2010, Reinhardt changed its name to Reinhardt University.
About the Coaches
Coach Wayne Stower is in his third season as head coach of the Red Hawks. He has a 97-61 record as head coach of the Red Hawks. He was head coach at Foothill High School from 2000-2007 and has coached softball in the ASA ranks since 1995. He played two seasons of minor league baseball.
Coach Glen Crawford is in his fourth season as head coach of the Eagles and has a 141-64 record as the head coach of Reinhardt. Before his time at Reinhardt, he was both baseball and softball coach at McEachern High School and in 2004, he coached baseball at Lithia Springs High School.
