Red Hawks falter against Owls

REDDING, Calif. - The Red Hawks women's volleyball team was in action tonight as they hosted the Owls from Oregon Tech dropping the match in three sets (25-21, 25-21, 25-22). The match marked the last preseason test of the season; it also marked the debut of sophomore Lauren Godinet who is returning to the team for her second season.
The Red Hawks had the lead in all three sets but were not able to capitalize on those leads. The Owls had great performances from senior Mindy Nalder who finished the night with eight kills and sophomore Kayleigh Whelchel who had an incredible 24 assists in the winning effort. Cashel White led the way for the Red Hawks with 10 kills and 13 assists on the night. She was helped out by Kirsten Duren who had 12 assists and 11 digs and Kelly Tycksen who had 10 assists.
The loss drops the Red Hawks record to 4-14 on the season as they will now turn their focus to their conference schedule that begins on Friday, Sept. 23 in Atherton, Calif., when they will take on the Oaks from Menlo College at 5 p.m.
