Simpson loses Homecoming match against CSU Maritime

REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University's women's basketball team hosted the CSU Maritime Academy Keelhaulers on Saturday, Feb. 12 in Redding, Calif. This game was both Homecoming and senior night for the Lady Red Hawks. Seniors Kylie Shaw and Tiffany Johnson both played their last regular season home game for Simpson. The game was a battle for both teams the entire night. CSU Maritime, however, came away with the 85-77 victory.

Both teams fought hard in the first half. The Keelhaulers were up 40-36 at halftime. Freshman Bekah Wofford had 22 points and Shaw had 10 points in the first half. They for 32 of the Lady Red Hawks' 36 points.

In the second half, it was once again a battled. CSU Maritime went up 14, but the Keelhaulers saw their lead cut to one point. Simpson was unable to get stops and take the lead. CSU Maritime defeated Simpson 85-77.

Wofford led all scorers with 37 points and 12 rebounds. Shaw followed with 19 points and three steals. Johnson had a career high six assists.

Simpson returns to action on Friday, Feb. 18 against Bethany University in Scotts Valley, Calif. Tip-off set for 5:30 p.m.
