Lady Red Hawks end regular season play with loss to Menlo

ATHERTON, Calif. - Simpson University's women's basketball team finished their regular season with a loss to conference opponent Menlo College on Saturday, Feb. 19 in Atherton, Calif. The Lady Oaks defeated the Lady Red Hawks 83-46.

Menlo dominated both halves of the game. They were up 37-24 at halftime. In the second half, the Lady Oaks outscored Simpson 46-22. Simpson was held to 35 percent shooting from the field for the game. The Lady Red Hawks only made one of their 12 three-point attempts. Menlo shot 49 percent from the field and 35 percent from behind the arc.

Senior Kylie Shaw was the leading scored for Simpson. She had 13 points. Freshman Nichole Jones followed with 10 points.

Menlo had four players in double figures. Monique Ayer-Calevello had a game high 17 points and 15 rebounds. Ericka Garcia had 15 points, and Stephanie Truong scored 14 points. Elisa Ayala scored 11 points and pulled down nine rebounds.

The Lady Red Hawks return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 23 when they host CSU Maritime in round one of the California Pacific Conference playoffs. These teams split their conference match-ups, winning one game each. Simpson enters the playoffs as the No. 4 seed, and CSU Maritime is the No. 5 seed.
