Red Hawks drop preseason opener to The Master's College

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - Simpson University's women's basketball team took to the court in their preseason opener on Friday, Nov. 4 against the Mustangs from The Master's College. The Red Hawks only trailed by five at the break but the Mustangs offense proved too much to handle as they shot 50 percent from the field in the second half and roared to the 76-59 win over the Red Hawks.
The Mustangs were led by Zoe Scott who had 18 points. Also with good nights for the Mustangs were Lena Rivera who had seven points and seven assists, Morgan Schwegler who scored 13 points, and Kristen Huff who scored 12 points.
Tempest Dawson was the biggest offensive force as she scored 14 points in the losing effort for the Red Hawks. Kaity Hahn had a good night with 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field including 2-of-2 beyond the three-point line. Nichole Jones performed well finishing the night with nine points and four assists.
The Red Hawks look to shake off this loss on Saturday, Nov. 5 when they travel to Fullerton, Calif., to take on the Royals from Hope International University. Tip off is at 12 p.m.
