Conference rival earns win over Lady Red Hawks

REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University's women's basketball team took on conference rival William Jessup University on Saturday, Feb. 5 at the Heritage Student Life Center in Redding, Calif. The Lady Red Hawks battled hard but fell to the Warriors in an 80-67 loss. This loss gives Simpson a .500 conference record (4-4).

The Lady Red Hawks were down 40-31 at halftime. Simpson shot 32 percent from the field and 11 percent from the three-point line.

In the second, Simpson could not get over the hump. William Jessup outscored the Lady Red Hawks 40-36 in the second half to claim the 80-67 victory.

Freshman Nichole Jones led all scorers with 29 points and eight rebounds. Senior Tiffany Johnson followed with seven rebounds, and junior Charissa Murakami pulled down six rebounds.

Simpson returns to action on Thursday, Feb. 10 against Holy Names University in Oakland, Calif. Holy Names won the first meeting between these two teams. Tip-off set for 5:30 p.m.
