Simpson University Red Hawks LOSES TO Western Washington University Vikings

Bellingham, Washington- The Red Hawks women's basketball team was in action on Friday night to take part in the 15th Annual Lynda Goodrich Classic hosted by the Vikings from Western Washington University. The Red Hawks took on the host in their first encounter in the classic and came out on the wrong end of a lopsided scoreline, 108-63.
In the first half the Red Hawks kept it close for the better part of the half as they were within 4 points with 11:54 to play in the period. It wasn't long after that that the Vikings started to kick it into high gear with some outstanding play from Trishi Williams and Erika Ramstead who both finished the half with 10 points a piece and a 54-37 lead at the break. The Vikings shot 65.7% from the field to gain control of the game which was far better than the Red Hawks 36.7%. The Red Hawks did look good from the free throw line making 14 of 15 of their attempts in the half. 3-Point field goals also help tell the story of the 1st half as the Red Hawks only converted 1 and the Viking were able to sink 5 in the period.
In the second half it was the Vikings who picked up right were they left off as they equaled their first half point total of 54 points. Kristin Schramm led the Vikings in the second half scoring 14 points. The Vikings cooled a bit shooting from the field but not much as they still were over 50%. The Red Hawks just couldn't do anything about the high octane offense that they were trying to defend and the fell to the Vikings in the end by 45 points, 108-63.
Williams had the most outstanding performance for the Vikings with 20 points, 7 assists and 3 steals on the night. Ramstead also had a big night with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Three other Vikings were in double figures including: Schramm with 14 points, Sarah Hill with 10 points and Katie Colard added 11 in the win for the Vikings. As for the Red Hawks they were led by Becca Eppler who had 19 points with 7 rebounds and she went 8-9 from the charity stripe. The only other Red Hawk in double figures was Kaila Smith who had 10 points.
The loss puts the Red Hawks season record to 3-6. They will look to rebound tomorrow night as they will take on Saint Marin's in their second game of the 15th Annual Lynda Goodrich Classic which will tip off a 3 pm.
