Red Hawks finish season with high-scoring, double-header split

REDDING, Calif. - The Red Hawks' men's baseball team finished off their season on Sunday when they hosted the Warriors from Corban University in a doubleheader. The team split the doubleheader with game one going to the Warriors 18-12 and the Red Hawks would rebound for a 6-3 victory in game two. It was also senior day for the Red Hawks as the seniors would be participating in their final home game. Sixteen seniors were honored in a ceremony in between games, it included:
In game one Matthew Hart took the mound taking on Tyler Doornink for the Warriors. The Warriors scored 4 in the first inning of this one with the Red Hawks answering with one from a Josh Corson solo shot. The Warriors would keep up their hot offense in the 2nd inning scoring 5 times making it 9-1. After that the Warriors would score 4 more in the 4th, 2 in the 6th and 3 in the 9th with the Red Hawks scoring 2 in the 3rd and 5th, 4 in the 6th, 2 in the 8th and 1 in the 9th all adding up for a 18-12 win for Corban. Hart is the loser for the Red Hawks giving up 13 runs (10 earned) on 11 hits in 4 innings. Doornink is the winner for the Warriors going 5.1 innings giving up 7 earned runs on 9 hits. Garrett Barnett was 2-5 with 4 RBI with Angel Marti and Kris Warner both adding 2 RBI each.
In game two Scott McKeen took the ball for the Red Hawks going against Anthony Wirkkala for the Warriors. Both teams scored one in the first with the Red Hawks run coming from a Garrett Barnett single which scored Josh Corson. The Red Hawks would add two more in the 2nd when Marti singled to score Graig Lonergan and Barnett doubled to score Marti. The Red Hawks weren't finished their as they would score three more times in the 3rd inning highlighted by an Angel Marti 2 RBI double which scored Lonergan and Warner to make it 6-1. The Warriors would add one in the 5th and one in the 9th but the Red Hawks would hold on for the 6-3 win. McKeen earns the win allowing just 3 runs on 11 hits in a complete game. Anthony Wirkkala is hit with the loss giving up 6 runs on 5 hits in 2.1 innings of work. Marti was 2-4 3 RBI with Barnett adding 2 RBI on 2-5 hitting.
