Simpson wins doubleheader against Masters

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - The Red Hawks' men's baseball team took to the field on Saturday, Jan. 28 against the Mustangs from Master's College. They won both games of the doubleheader. They won 7-6 in the first game and 1-0 in the second game.
In the first game, the Red Hawks came from behind to earn the win by scoring three runs in the eighth to take the lead. Simpson held off the Mustangs’ late surge to win by one run. Adrian DeMar started the game for the Red Hawks and made it through six innings. He allowed eight hits and three runs, getting a no decision. Andrew Douglas earned the win in relief pitching one inning and allowing no hits and one run. Joshua Weise earned the save.
In the second game, Scott McKeen got his second start of the season. He pitched a complete game and shut out the Mustangs 1-0. McKeen (1-1) got through seven innings, allowing three hits and no runs and striking out four. The only offense in the game came from Matthew Alton who continued his hot start with an RBI single in the fifth.
The wins advance the Red Hawks record to 3-3 on the season. They will have a big break before returning home to play in their home opener on Friday, Feb. 10 at 5 p.m. against Willamette.
