Menlo takes two more from the Red Hawks

ATHERTON, Calif. - The Red Hawks' men's baseball team were in action on Sunday trying to avoid a four game sweep to the hands of the Oaks from Menlo College when the teams completed the series with a doubleheader. The Oaks took game game one 11-8 and game two, 5-2.

Matt Hart started game one for the Red Hawks taking on Derek Martinez for the Oaks. The Red Hawks started the scoring early when they struck three times in the first highlighted by a 2-RBI triple from Daveron Ross. The Oaks would answer with two in the second before Matthew Alton scored on a Robert Nadalsky single in the top of the 3rd making it 4-2 Red Hawks. The Oaks would take the lead after scoring 2 in the 3rd, 1 in the 5th and 1 in the 6th giving them a 6-4 lead. The Red Hawks would take back the lead in the 8th scoring 4 times including a 2-RBI double from Angel Marti making it 8-6 Red Hawks. Unfortunately, the Oaks answered with 5 of their own to take a 11-8 lead which would also be the final. Joshua Yachinich gets the loss for the Red Hawks allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on 1 hit in 2.1 innings or relief. John Schott is the winner on allowing a run and a hit in 2/3 of an inning. Nadalsky was 3-5 with 2 RBI while Marti was 2-4 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.

Nadalsky took the ball for the Red Hawks in game two facing James Jensen for the Oaks. It was the Oaks taking a 1-0 lead after 1 inning in this one before the Red Hawks would tie it up 1-1 in the 4th when Ross scored. The Oaks wouldn't wait long to take back the lead as they did so in the bottom half of the 4th making it 2-1 Oaks. In the top of 7th Philip Ramos had a RBI single which scored Graig Lonergan to tie the game at 2-2. Again it was the Oaks quick to respond scoring 3 times to take the lead once and for all 5-2. Chad Alden is hit with loss allowing 3 runs on 2 hits in 2/3 of an inning as Jensen earns the win giving up just 2 runs on 10 hits in 7.2 innings. Ramos was 2-4 with a RBI and Ross was 2-4 with a run scored.

The Red Hawks record is now 18-28 after the day bringing their conference record to 3-20. They will finish off their season schedule next weekend when they will host the Warriors from Corban College in a four game series starting with a doubleheader on Saturday with first pitch scheduled for noon.
