Simpson loses another close conference game

OAKLAND, Calif. - Simpson University men's basketball team was in action on Saturday, Jan. 14 against the Holy Names University Hawks, but it wasn't to be as the Red Hawks dropped the game by 10 points (79-69).

It was a hard-fought contest with both teams struggling from the field. The Hawks shot 39 percent, and the Red Hawk only managed to shoot 36 percent.

Red Hawks' guard Justin Phillips led all scorers with 17 points. Also contributing for the Red Hawks was Bryan Castillo with 13 points. For the Hawks, it was Obie Woods leading with 13 points.

The loss puts the Res Hawks record at 1-16 on the season and 0-3 in the Cal Pac. They will be in action again on Thursday, Jan. 19, Rocklin, Calif., against the Warriors from William Jessup University at 7:30 p.m.
