REDDING, Calif. - Red Hawk sophomore Ian Corella was on fire on Friday, Nov. 30, when he helped lead Simpson University men's basketball team to 76-69 victory over the visiting The Master’s College Mustangs.

The Red Hawks had their work cut out for them with a talented Mustang team in town. The Mustangs held a slight lead early in the first half; they were led by some outstanding play from Jason Logan. Corella hit some big baskets of his own to take back the lead for the Red Hawks. The Red Hawks had a 10-point lead with 2:00 remaining in the half. Mustang guard Devin Dyer brought his team within seven at the half (37-30).

Dyer continued to play well, as he kept the Mustangs within touching distance. Again it was Corella who came up big to help the Red Hawks hold their lead. Every time the Mustangs mounted a charge, the Red Hawks shut it down. Bryce Butcher and Guy Varsek also came up big in the half to help deliver the Red Hawks a 76-69 win.

Corella finished the night with 30 points, including an impressive 10-of-12 from the free throw line to help close out the Mustangs. Varsek added 14 points, and Butcher added eight points off of the bench. Jordan Collins had a double-double in the win with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Dyer led the Mustangs with 24 points, and Logan added 12 points in limited minutes due to an injury.
