Red Hawks gain first conference win of the season

ANGWIN, Calif. - Simpson University men's basketball team was in action against Pacific Union College on Thursday, Jan. 26. The Red Hawks were able to pull of their first conference win of the season. They beat the Pioneers 66-45.
The Red Hawks jumped out early outscoring the Pioneers 39-23 in the half. They shot 46 percent from the field and made six 3-pointers in the first half. The Pioneers could not find a rhythm and shot just 27 percent from the field on the night. All of this added up to a comfortable 21-point victory for the Red Hawks (66-45).
Nick Dalby led all scorers with 15 points. Travis Derochowski recorded a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds, while Ian Corella had 11 points. Marcus Carter was the high scorer for the Pioneers with 14 points to go along with his 15 rebounds.
The win gives the Red Hawks their first win in the Cal Pac. They now have a 1-5 record in the Cal Pac and their season record is 2-18. They look to keep their winning momentum going on Saturday, Jan. 28 against the Oaks from Menlo College in a home game that starts at 7:30 p.m.
