Red Hawks finish regular season with third straight win

REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University men's basketball team took to the court against the Pioneers from Pacific Union College on Saturday, Feb. 16. This was the last regular season game. The Red Hawks won 70-47.
Both teams started the game off slowly; it was only 4-2 with five minutes played in the game. The Red Hawks started to open up a lead and went up by 10 points (27-17) with just under six minutes to play in the half. Their surge was spurred on by Bryan Castillo who had 13 points in the half. The Red Hawks led by nine at the break (39-30).
The second half was more of the same for the Red Hawks. Nick Dalby took control offensively by consistently making three’s. The Pioneers couldn't handle the Red Hawks’ offense and were only able to bring the game within seven points before the Red Hawks stretched the lead to 23 points. The Red Hawks eventually won 70-47.
Dalby led all scorers with 18 points, all coming from his six three point baskets. He also grabbed five rebounds. Castillo and Ian Corella both had 13 points, while Travis Derochowski had 12 in the win for the Red Hawks.
The win means that the Red Hawks will travel to Menlo College to take on the Oaks in the Cal Pac playoffs on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 7:30 p.m.
