Simpson loses at home to No. 16 Southern Oregon

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University men's basketball team hosted the Raiders from Southern Oregon University on Saturday, Dec. 8. The No. 16 Raiders proved to be difficult opponents, as they were able to defeat the Red Hawk, 87-79, despite the Red Hawks hitting 13 three pointers in the game.
The Red Hawks started out strong, building a seven-point lead just three minutes into the game. The Raiders kept the game close and tied it at 24 with less than 10 minutes to play in the half. The Red Hawks went on a 10-0 run to hold what would be their largest lead of the game. The Raiders again would not go away and brought the game back within two points. The Red Hawks led 44-42 at the break.
The Raiders tied the game up immediately after the half started and held a slight lead for the majority of the half. Late in the period, the Raiders extended their lead and then consistently hit their free throws to close out the Red Hawks and win 87-79.
Eric Thompson led the Raiders with 24 points and had seven rebounds. David Sturner and Dex Daum added 16 and 15 points respectively.
