Red Hawks lose exhibition to Sac State

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Simpson University men's basketball team opened their season on Tuesday, Oct. 30, when they traveled to Sacramento to take on the Hornets from Sacramento State. The Red Hawks lost the game by 33 points, 88-55.

The Hornets opened the game on a 21-6 run and never looked back. They took a 51-35 lead into the half time break and cruised to a 88-55 victory.

Sacramento State was running on all cylinders, as all 12 Hornets scored and grabbed at least one rebound. As a team, they shot 52.8 percent (38-for-72) from the field. The Hornets also out-rebounded the Red Hawks 51-29 and scored 52 of their 88 points in the paint.

The Hornets were led by Mikh McKinney who had 18 points. Joey Quigley (14 points), John Dickson (13 points) and Jackson Carbajal (10 points) also scored in the double figures.

The Red Hawks were led offensively by Robert Frank, who had 14 points to go along with his three steals and three rebounds. Dalton Thacker added 10 points in the loss for the Red Hawks.

The Red Hawks now travel to San Diego to take on the Hawks from San Diego Christian College on Thursday, Nov. 1, at 7:30 p.m.
