SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - Simpson University men's basketball team finished a four-game road trip with a visit to The Master’s College Mustangs on Saturday, Nov. 3. The Red Hawks found themselves on the wrong end of a lopsided game, 68-46.
The Mustangs hit a 3-pointer to start the game and never looked back, as they led wire-to-wire. The Mustangs started the game on a 7-0 run before Guy Varsek and Jordan Vargas cut the lead to three points. The Mustangs responded with a 12-2 run to give them a 19-6 with 11:13 left in the half. The Mustangs enjoyed a 38-19 lead at the halftime break.
In the second half, the Red Hawks showed some signs of life, when trailing by 22 points they went on a 10-0 run to cut the lead to 42-30 with 13:39 to play. Daveron Ross, Ian Corella and Jordan Collins all contributed to the run. The Mustangs, however, regained control of the game and pushed their lead back to 22 points, which was their final margin of victory.
The Red Hawks will now travel home to take on the Beacon's from Northwest Christian on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m.
