SU loses to Warner Pacific on the road

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University men's basketball team was in action of Thursday, Nov. 15,when they played in what was the first of a three-game road trip to Portland. On Thursday, the opponents for the Red Hawks were the Knights from Warner Pacific College. It was the home opener for the Knights at Bart Valentine Court, and they defeated the Red Hawks by 22 points, 87-65.

In the first half, the Red Hawks kept the game within reaching distance and trailed by eight points late in the half (32-25). The Knights then went on a 11-0 run to finish off the half. He run was capped off by the Knights Marcus Moore, who hit a three at the buzzer to send the Red Hawks into the half trailing 43-25.

In the second half, the Red Hawks improved their shooting and scored 40 points, but the Knights poured in 45 more points to give them a 22-point, 87-65 win.

Doug Thomas led the Knights off of the bench with 18 points. Stephen Harris added 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Overall, the Knights scored score on 30 of their 54 shots and shot 55.6 percent from the field.

Ian Corella led the Red Hawks with 16 points, and Guy Varsek added 15 points. Dalton Thacker contributed with five assists.
