Men’s golf team wins Cal Pac Championship tournament

ROCKLIN, Calif. - The Red Hawk men's golf team took part in the Cal Pac Championship on Monday April 2,and Tuesday April 3. The event was held at the Morgan Creek Golf Club and included five teams of five golfers. After the three rounds were completed, the Red Hawks’ overall team score of 934 helped them clinch win the tournament. Holy Names and Biola University tied for second with a score of 936. Due to the tie for second, William Jessup came in fourth with a final team score of 952. Menlo College placed fifth with a score of 981. The championship was hosted by William Jessup University.
Simpson University freshman Jake West had the highest individual finish for Simpson, with a score of +12 (228). He came in one stroke behind second place finisher Shane Connor from Holy Names (+11) and two strokes behind first place finisher Kyle Schrader from Biola (+10). Simpson senior Mitch Card finished tied for seventh with a score of + 15 (231). Nick Maddalena finished 11th with a score of +22 (238). Thomas Fox finished one stroke Maddalena in 12th place with a score of +13 (239). Marcus Mezzano rounded out the Red Hawk golfers tied for 16th with a score of +34 (250).

By finishing in second place, Holy Names University clinched their fourth consecutive Cal Pac Championship led by Cal Pac Coach of the Year Erik Stone.
