Red Hawks participate in Pioneer Shootout

VALLEJO, Calif. - The Red Hawk women's golf team team took part in the Pioneer Shootout on March 3-6, in Vallejo hosted by the Pioneers from Cal State East Bay at Hiddenbrooke Golf Club.

The Pioneers won the tournament shooting a 907. Grand Canyon University finished second place with a 914, and CSU-Monterey Bay finished in third place with a 918. The Red Hawks had a strong showing, finishing in seventh place with a score of 943.

East Bay's Chris Herzog finished first in individual play with a 221 (+5). Grand Canyon's Brandon Moore was two strokes behind him with a 223 (+7) in second place, and Western Washington's Nick Varelia finished in third shooting a 226 (+10). The Red Hawks had two finish in the top 10. Mitch Card and Jake West both finished tied for ninth, shooting a 229 (+13). As for the rest of the Red Hawks, Nick Maddalena finished in 27th with a 234 (+18), Marcus Mezzano finished in 59th place with a 253 (+37), and Thomas Fox finished in 62nd place with a 256 (+40).

The Red Hawks host the Simpson Invite on Monday, March 12.
