Red Hawks go 0-3 on Arizona road trip

SCOTTSDALE/PRESCOTT, Ariz. - The Red Hawks men’s soccer team was in action during the second week of September when they traveled to Arizona to take part in three games including two Cal Pac games. Unfortunately, the Red Hawks dropped all three games.
The trip opened up with a non-conference game against Arizona Christian University in Scottsdale, Ariz. The Red Hawks scored first when Marvin Delgado's corner kick was headed home by Jonathan Lowdermilk to give the Red Hawks a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute. The Firestorm tied it up when Matt Horrigan converted a penalty in the 31st min. The Red Hawks got the lead back in the early moments of the second half when Angel Garcia's 35-yard thunderbolt when screaming past the Firestorm keeper Joshua Chelpka in the 52nd min. Firestorm striker Sidney Jones quickly tied the game up again when his shot found its way past Red Hawk keeper Justin Webb to make it 2-2. Horrigan scored the go-ahead goal in the 62nd minute when he converted his second penalty kick of the match. The Firestorm held on for the 3-2 win.
The Red Hawks then traveled to Prescott, Ariz., to kick-off their Cal Pac season with their first conference test coming in the form of the Eagles from Embry-Riddle University. The Red Hawks dropped this game 4-0.
Their second game in Prescott was be against Soka University, a game in which the Red Hawks were also held scoreless, losing 3-0. All Soka’s goals were scored by Akira Takahata, whose hat trick capped off a forgettable trip for the Red Hawks.
The Red Hawks face Biola University on Friday, Sept. 21, at home in a game that is set to start at 3 p.m.
