ROCKLIN, Calif. - The Red Hawks men’s soccer team traveled to Rocklin on Tuesday, Oct. 23, to take on conference rival William Jessup University. The Red Hawks came from behind and win 2-1.
The Warriors were on the board in the sixth minute, when Uriel Moreno got his shot passed the diving Justin Webb in goal for the Red Hawks off a Mitch Chilcott assist. The Red Hawks scored in the 30th minute, when Tim Mederios sent a ball through to Tyler Goens, who calmly chipped the ball over oncoming Warrior goalkeeper Tim Rusher to knot the score at 1-1.
In the second half, both teams had opportunities to score but neither team could get the break thorough they were looking. Then in the 69th minute with the Red Hawks attacking, a Warrior defender stopped a Red Hawk shot with his hand giving the Red Hawks a penalty kick. Angel Garcia stepped up to take the shot and scored to give the Red Hawks the lead which they would hold onto for the victory.
The Red Hawks look to extend their winning streak to three games on Wednesday, Oct. 31, when they host the Pioneers from Pacific Union College at 3 p.m. This is also senior day for the Red Hawks.
