Red Hawks sweep Beacons

EUGENE, Ore. - The Simpson University women's softball team was in action on Thursday, March 8, against the Beacons from Northwest Christian University. The Red Hawks won both games. They won game one 4-2 and fame two 3-1.
In game one, Morgan Davis started for the Red Hawks and took on Kalyssa Koontz. Davis earned the win, going six innings and allowing two runs on six hits. Hayley Rodriguez earned the save. The Red Hawks scored first before the Beacons took a 2-1 lead. The Red Hawks delivered the final blow in the sixth inning by scoring three runs. Right fielder Ryan Norton was 1-for-3 in the game with an RBI.
In game two, Rodriguez pitched a complete game, allowing just one run on four hits. Simpson scored all three of their runs in the sixth inning. Chelsea Espinosa went 1-for-3 with 2 RBI in the win for the Red Hawks.
The Red Hawks improve to 12-19 on the season. They host the Oregon Tech Owls on Saturday, March 10. The first pitch is slated for 12 p.m.
