Feuerbach and Rodriguez named player and pitcher of the week

Simpson University senior Nicki Feuerbach had six RBIs in the Red Hawks’ 5-3 week and was selected as the California Pacific Conference Softball Player of the Week for the dates of April 16th through 22nd, 2012.

The Anderson, California native went five for twenty with six RBIs, three runs scored and a home run in a 5-3 week for the Red Hawks. The Red Hawks swept their doubleheader with William Jessup University in Rocklin on Tuesday, split their doubleheader with Holy Names University in Hayward on Friday, split their doubleheader with Menlo College in Atherton on Saturday and on Sunday, they split their doubleheader with NAIA #2 CSU San Marcos in Redding. As of April 6th, Feuerbach was tied for second in the conference in triples (2) and home runs (2), fourth in doubles (8) and tied for fourth in sacrifice flies (1), fifth in hits (33) and total bases (51) and tenth in batting average (.355)

Simpson will now wait to see who their next opponent shall be at the NAIA West Regional from May 3rd through 5th. Other Nominees: Rachael Martinez of Holy Names, Stephanie Gilbert of Menlo, Mallory Blodgett of William Jessup

Hayley Rodriguez Selected as Pitcher of the Week Simpson University senior Hayley Rodriguez struck out three batters in 22.2 innings in her 2-1 week personally and was selected as the California Pacific Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for the dates of April 16th through 22nd, 2012.

The Torrance, California native pitched 22.2 innings giving up twelve runs, all of which were earned, on twenty nine hits while walking five and striking out three batters. The Red Hawks went 5-3 last week swept their doubleheader with William Jessup University in Rocklin on Tuesday, split their doubleheader with Holy Names University in Hayward on Friday, split their doubleheader with Menlo College in Atherton on Saturday and on Sunday, they split their doubleheader with NAIA #2 CSU San Marcos in Redding. As of April 6th, Rodriguez was first in innings pitched (109.1), hits allowed (131), earned runs allowed (55), doubles allowed (27), home runs allowed (12), intentional walks (2), strike outs looking (37) and tied for first in wins (9) and runs allowed (65), second in strike outs (74) and tied for second in sacrifice bunts allowed (10), losses (8) and saves (2), third in triples allowed (3) and tied for third in sacrifice flies allowed (1), tied for fourth in hit batsmen (6), fifth in walks allowed (29) and sixth in earned run average (3.52).

Simpson will now wait to see who their next opponent shall be at the NAIA West Regional from May 3rd through 5th.
