Simpson finishes SOU tourney with a win over host

MEDFORD, Ore. - The Simpson University women's softball team was slated to play two games on Saturday, Feb. 25, to complete their participation in the Southern Oregon tournament, but the snows came before they could fit in both games. They were able to get one game in against the host Raiders. The Red Hawks were able to take the game by a score on 6-1.
Hayley Rodriguez got the start and the win in the game. She pitched all seven innings allowing just one run on six hits. Jessica Flores was hit with the loss for the Raiders. She allowed four runs (one earned) in 2.1 innings of work.
The Res Hawks scored two runs in the first, and two more in the third inning, and never looked back. Brooke Quaife led the Red Hawks, going 3-for-4 and scoring a run. Ryan Norton also has a big game, going 1-for-2 and accounting for two of the Red Hawks' three RBI.
With the win, the Red Hawks improve their record to 8-7 on the season. The will next be in action on Wednesday, Feb. 29, when they travel to take on the Eagles from Concordia University-Irvine. The teams will play two games after they complete a suspended game. The suspended game will start in the top of the fourth inning with the Red Hawks trailing 7-3. The play will begin at 1 p.m.
