Red Hawks eliminated from NAIA regional tourney

IRVINE, Calif. - The No. 3 Red Hawks women's softball team was in action on Friday, May 4, against the No. 4 Lions from Vanguard University in an elimination game as a part of the GSAC/Cal Pac Softball Conference Tournament. Sadly for the Red Hawks, their season came to an abrupt end. They lost the game 6-5.
Red Hawks’ starting pitcher Morgan Davis faced Rachel Stalford of the Lions. The Red Hawks scored four times in the second inning to take a 4-0 lead. Their scoring spree was highlighted by Nicole Hutchins, whose RBI single was followed by a Davis two-RBI double. The Lions responded by scoring two runs in the third and four runs in the fourth to take a 6-4 lead. The Red Hawks scored another run in the bottom of the fourth, when Davis hit a solo home run. After that, the Red Hawks couldn't get any offense going and fell 6-5 to end their season.
Hayley Rodriguez got the loss, pitching 3.2 innings of relief and allowing one run on two hits. Brittany Colenzo earned the win, allowing one run on three hits in 5.1 innings of a relief. Davis went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs; Hutchins went 1-for3 with a RBI and a run; and Corrine Alexander went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
