Simpson volleyball picked to finish second in Cal Pac preseason poll

REDDING, Calif. - In a vote of the California Pacific Conference's six volleyball coaches, Simpson University women’s volleyball team was voted to finish second in conference play. Menlo College, last year's conference regular season runner-up, was voted to earn the top spot.

The Oaks received five out of a possible six first place votes and 35 points out of a possible one 126 points for the first place finish. Simpson came in second in the voting, garnering 29 points and one first place vote. William Jessup University came in third with 21 points.

For the first time since 2010, the California Pacific Conference will be conducting a playoff to decide who is going to be the conference's representative to the NAIA National Tournament.

The final results of the coaches' poll are as follows:

1. Menlo (35 points, 5 first place votes)
2. Simpson (29 points, 1 first place vote)
3. William Jessup (21 points)
T4. Embry-Riddle, UC Merced (17 points)
6. Pacific Union (7 points)
