Simpson loses hard-fought match to OIT

REDDING, Calif. - The Lady Red Hawks volleyball team suffered a tough loss on Wednesday, Aug. 23, against the Owls from Oregon Tech in five sets (27-25, 24-26, 25-23, 29-31, 7-15).

It was a hard fought match with neither team able to control the flow of the match. The Red Hawks took set one before the Owls took set two. The Red Hawks came right back to take the third set, and the Owls answered with a win the fourth set. After their fourth set win, the Owls never looked back and dominated the fifth set 15-7.

Kara Young was the standout for the Owls with 11 kills and three blocks. Red Hawk junior Sarah Loogman was named player of the game with seven kills, 19 digs and five blocks.

The Red Hawks’ record is now 0-2 on the season. Their next game is against La Sierra in Riverside, Calif., on Saturday, Aug. 25.
