Red Hawks lose tournament match to Mustangs

ROCKLIN, Calif. - The Lady Red Hawks volleyball team was in action on Friday, Sept. 8, taking on the Mustangs from The Masters College as a part of the William Jessup Tournament The Red Hawks fell to the Mustangs in three straight sets: 12-25, 7-25, 17-25..

In the first set, the Red Hawks won the first point of the match, but it was followed up by six straight points from the Mustangs. The Mustang’s never looked back and extended their lead to 13 points, winning the set 25-12. In the second set, the Mustangs again had a fast start. This time, they jumped out an 11-0 lea. The Red Hawks only scored seven points, and the Mustangs cruised to a 25-7 second set win. The Mustangs then capped off their impressive performance by taking the third set, coming back from a five-point deficit (10-5) to take the set 25-17.

Rachel Taylor led the way for the Mustangs with nine kills, and Alyssa Gergins supplied her teammates with 19 assists. As for the Red Hawks, Sarah Loogman had seven kills.

The Red Hawks now fall to 1-4 on the season. They will continue their participation in the William Jessup University Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 9, against Embry-Riddle University and Westmont College.
