Lady Red Hawks lose by ten to Maritime

VALLEJO, Calif. - The Red Hawks women's basketball team was looking to make to win its fourth conference game in a row when they traveled to take on the Keelhaulers from CSU Maritime. Earlier this season, the Red Hawks dropped the home half of this series by three points. Unfortunately for the Red Hawks, the Keelhaulers won the second game of the series 90-80.
The game was closely contested as the teams kept it close most of the way. The Keelhaulers led by six points at halftime (44-38). In the second half, Maritime again outscored the Red Hawks; this time by four points ( 46-42).Their two lead added up to a 10-point victory (90-80).
Both teams shot well from the field. The Red Hawks scored on 42 percent of their shots; the Keelhaulers were able to score on 51 percent of their shots. Alexis Brown was the star of the night. She scored 40 points for the Keelhaulers while grabbing 11 rebounds in the win. Three other Keelhaulers were in double figures. Kristina Shiheiber, Kelly Stephens and Marisa Carion each added 12 points. Ariassa Wilson was the high scorer for the Red Hawks. She put in 22 points, while reigning Cal Pac Player of the Week Bekah Eppler added 11 points in the loss for the Red Hawks.
The loss drops the Red Hawks record to 7-15 on the season and 3-4 in the Cal Pac. The Red Hawks host the Wolves from Walla Walla University on Sunday, Feb. 5 at 8 p.m.
