Red Hawks lose to Northwest Christian

ROCKLIN, Calif. - The Red Hawks women's basketball team traveled to Rocklin to take on the Beacons Northwest Christian University from Oregon in William Jessup's new Warrior Arena on Friday, Nov. 9. The Red Hawks lost the game 66-52.
The Red Hawks had an early lead, when Tiffany Aaserude hit a three point shot with 17:04 to play in the first half giving the Red Hawks a 5-4 lead. Unfortunately, the lead was short lived and was the only time the Red Hawks led for the rest of the game. The Beacons took control after that and built their lead to as many as 18 points. The Beacons were led by Lindsey Shearer and took a 17-point lead into the half time break (33-16). The Red Hawks were plagued by poor shooting in the half, only hitting three shots from the field for a dismal 12.5 percent. The Beacons, on the other hand, hit 44.9 percent of their attempts from the field in the half. Shearer finished the half with 11 points, five rebounds and five assists.
In the second half, the Red Hawks improved their shooting, going 19-for-57 (33.3 percent) from the field. However, it was still be lower than the Beacons 42.9 percent in the half, and the Red Hawks just couldn't successfully cut into the lead. The Beacons led by as many as 21 points, before the Red Hawks eventually cut the lead to 14 points, which was the final margin of victory for the Beacons (66-52).
Shearer finished the game with a double-double consisting of 19 points and 10 rebounds. She also had eight 8 assists. Katie Collins had six points and six rebounds for the Beacons in the win. Nichole Jones led the Red Hawks with 15 points. Freshman Madison Cox grabbed 10 rebounds to go along with her four points, and Aaserude finished with six points and three assists.
