Simpson beats PUC in last conference game of the season

REDDING, Calif. - The Red Hawks women's basketball team was in action on Saturday, Feb. 18, against the Pioneers from Pacific Union College. This game was the last conference game of the season. Simpson beat PUC 71-45.

The Pioneers were able to hold the Red Hawks close for the first 10 minutes of the first half until the Red Hawks kicked it into high gear. They enjoyed a 22-point lead at the break. Bekah Eppler was the high scorer with 11 points.

In the second half, the Pioneers opened up with four straight three’s and pulled within 10 points. However, the Red Hawks continued their hot offensive play and were never really threatened, as they coasted to a 26-point victory (71-45).

Eppler led all scorers with 21 points and nine rebounds. Charissa Murakami had 13 points, while Kaila Smith had 12 and Kaity Hahn had 11 points.

With the win, the Red Hawks earned a home playoff game against William Jessup University on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 7:30 p.m.
