Red Hawks lose in game one of St. Martin’s Tournament

LACEY, Wash. - The Red Hawks women's basketball team Hawks traveled to Lacey, Wash., to take part in the St. Martin's University Classic on Friday, Dec. 14. They opened tournament play against the host Saints, who defeated Simpson 56-47.

The Red Hawks got off to a slow start in the first half. They only managed to score 13 points, shooting 16 percent. Tiffany Aaserude scored five of those points. The Red Hawks were not out of the game, as the Saints struggled as well in the half shooting only 24.3% from the field. The Saints took a seven-point into the halftime break.

In the second half, the Red Hawks scored 34 points, including 13 from Ariassa Wilson. The Saints kept pace in the half scoring 36 of their own. They were able to hold on for a nine-point win.

Chelsea Haskey and Brooke Paulson led the team in scoring with 16 points each. MacKenzie Taylor scored 12 points in the win for the Saints. The Saints grabbed 51 rebounds as a team.

Wilson finished with a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds. Bianca Padilla came off the bench to score 11 points for the Red Hawks as well.
