Simpson competes in Point Loma tournament

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Red Hawks Women's golf team is in action taking part in the Super San Diego Championship which is hosted by Point Loma Nazarene University. The first round of the Super San Diego Women’s Collegiate Golf Championship took place on Monday. The event, held at Riverwalk Golf Course, sports a 22-team field with 106 players. After 18 holes of play the top-five teams are Cal Poly (321), followed by Victoria (326), Grand Canyon (327), Chico State (329) and Sonoma State (330).

The Red Hawks only had two competitors in the field which excludes them from the team portion of the competition. As for the individuals it was Morgan Thomas from Cal Poly setting the pace shooting a 76 with Chico States Shelby Hooper in second just one stroke off the lead with her 77. Red Hawks would struggle on the day with Victoria Souza shooting a 104 putting her in a tie for 90th place and Brionna Goulart with her 109 puts her in 100th place.
