Simpson held winless on Arizona road trip

SCOTTSDALE/PRESCOTT, Ariz. - The Lady Red Hawks soccer team traveled to Arizona during the second week of September to play in three games in a four-day span. The Red Hawks lost all three games in disappointing fashion.

The action began on Wednesday, Sept. 13, when the Red Hawks took on the Firestorm from Arizona Christian University. The Firestorm got on the board early when Chelsea Ruland gave the Firestorm a 1-0 lead. Ruland scored in the 25th minute to make it 2-. Red Hawk forward Rebecca Messer made it 2-1 when she scored from a tight angle to keep the Red Hawks alive. Ruland then completed her hat-trick, and the Red Hawks lost 3-1.

The Red Hawks then traveled to Prescott to play Embry-Riddle University. The Eagles scored nine times and the Red Hawks were held scoreless for the 9-0 loss.

The Red Hawks capped off the trip with a hard-fought game against Soka, which the Red Hawks lost 2-0.

The Red Hawks travel to Dominican University in San Rafael, Calif., on Thursday, Sept. 20. Kick-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
