SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - The Lady Red Hawks soccer team took to the road on Saturday, Sept. 1, against the Beacons from Northwest Christian University. It was a disappointing result for the Red Hawks as they lost 4-0.
The Red Hawks came close to scoring in the first half when Natalie Goens’ shot hit the crossbar and Rebecca Messer's follow up shot was well saved by Beacons keeper Kristen Fulbright. The Beacons scored in the 17th minute when Melyssa Weber found the back of the net. The Red Hawks created chances but couldn't convert any of them. The teams would take a 1-0 score line into the half.
In the second half, the Beacons came out strong and pressured the Red Hawk defense for most of the half. They added three goals to their total to bring the final score to 4-0. Katelyn Partridge scored in the 58th minute, Alisandra Alcocer scored in the 68th minute and Brianne Lagumina capped off the scoring in the 87th minute.
The Red Hawks now fall to 0-2 on the season and will look to turn things around in their next game on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 5 p.m. The Red Hawks will host their home opener against the Owls from Oregon Tech at Redding Soccer Park.
