Red Hawks held scoreless at home by Raiders

REDDING, Calif. - The Lady Red Hawks soccer team was in action on Thursday, Sept. 6, against the Raiders from Southern Oregon University. The Raiders came into town and played very well, and the Red Hawks found themselves on the wrong side of a 6-0 scoreline.
The Red Hawks knew coming into the match that the Raiders would be tough competition and that proved to be the case. Just six minutes into the game, Stephanie Carr found the back of the net to put the Raiders up 1-0. The Red Hawks regrouped and held the Raiders for the majority of the remaining time in the first half, only allowing another goal with five seconds to go in the half. Sydney Paulsen scored off an assist by Lauren Maserjian, giving the Raiders a 2-0 lead at the break.
The Raiders continued to dominate the ball in the second half and as a result added four goals to their tally in the second half. The first one would come from Elise DeJessen in the 50th min, followed by Paulsen's second goal of the game in the 55th minute, Carr's second goal of the game in the 61st minute, and Julie Zamzow’s goal in the 87th minute. The Raiders went home with the 6-0 victory.
The Red Hawks record now falls to 0-4 on the season. They will next be in action on Saturday, Sept. 8, when the travel to Hayward, Calif., to take on the Hawks from Holy Names University at 4 p.m.
