Red Hawks lose at home to conference rival
Simpson University Sports News
REDDING, Calif. - The Lady Red Hawks soccer team took to the field on Saturday, Oct. 6, when they hosted the Warriors from William Jessup University. Simpson dropped the match 3-0.
The Warriors struck early in the first half, when Alyssa Wimmer slotted the ball home off an assist from Kim Randall to make it 1-0 just three minutes into the game. The Red Hawks created chances of their own, but they could not get past Jessup keeper Katie Rappazzo.
In the second half, the Warriors pressed early and the Red Hawks were saved with some outstanding goalkeeping from Natasha Kamps. The Warriors did find the back of the net in the 69th minute, when Dallas Butterfield's shot slipped through Kamps' hands and the Warriors went up 2-0. The Warriors capped the scoring off in the 73rd minute, when some frantic defending saw Bethany Dahl put the ball in the back of her own net to give the Warriors a 3-0 victory.
Kamps finished the day with 14 saves.
The Red Hawks will look to bounce back on Saturday, Oct. 13, when they travel to Merced, Calif., to take on the Bobcats from UC Merced with kickoff scheduled for 3 p.m.
