Simpson competes against MSU-Northern

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University men's wrestling team were in action on Friday, Nov. 14, when they hosted the Lights from Montana State University-Northern in a dual. The Lights took the lead early and coasted to a 43-3 victory.
The dual featured 10 match-ups. The night started with the 125 pound weight class match-up between Lights freshman Duell Stadel and Red Hawk freshman Hayden Zimmerman. Stadel got the Lights off to a great start, winning by technical fall (16-1) to give the Lights a 5-0 team lead.
In the 133 weight class match-up, a Lights junior pinned Red Hawk freshman Chan Chao to give MSU-Northern a 11-0 lead.
At 141 pounds, Lights sophomore Hunter Azure defeated a Red Hawk sophomore by technical fall 24-9.
At 149 pounds, Lights freshman Trevor Gross defeated Red Hawk junior Marco Fratantoni by decision 10-8 to extend the Lights lead to 19-0.
At 157 pounds, a Red Hawk freshman lost on decision to Lights sophomore Edward Cheff 8-3.
At 165 pounds, Ethan Hinebauch pinned Red Hawk freshman Brady Beamon to give the Lights a 28-0 lead.
In the 174 weight class, Lights junior Max Payne defeated Red Hawk freshman Matthew Tsarnas on decision 8-2, furthering the Lights lead to 31-0.
At 184 pounds, Lights junior Kody Reed won by forfeit to make the Lights lead 37-0.
At 197 pounds, Lights freshman Toby Cheff pinned Red Hawk freshman Daniel Moor to make it 43-0 Lights.
In the final match-up of the night, Red Hawk freshman Austin Lobsinger defeated Lights freshman Tucker Erickson 5-3 on decision to make the final score 43-3.
