Simpson cross country competes at NAIA Nationals

LAWRENCE, Kansas. - The Simpson University women’s cross country team and Simpson men’s cross country runner Tony Moore competed in the NAIA Cross Country National Tournament held in Lawrence, Kansas on Saturday, Nov. 23.

Moore finished 161st out of 313 individual participants with a total time of 26:23.93 and an average mile time of 5:18.7.

Rebekah Studebaker placed first for the Red Hawks finishing 113th with a time of 19:19.28. Molly Finn placed 254th with a time of 20:51.09. Jaclyn Van Schooten finished 266th (21:02.75), Holly Pebles finished 282nd (21:23.78), Summer Holloway finished 309th (22:11.06), Karissa Scheuermann finished 315th (22:45.27), and Hannah Schmidt finished 317th (23:04.07).

There were 319 individual participants and Simpson University finished 27th as a team out of 32 with a team total of 1:44:47. 96.

The Red Hawks will lose seniors Vanessa Manier and star runner Rebekah Studebaker next year as they prepare for their 2014.
