Red Hawks lose two on the road to Cavaliers

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Red Hawks' men's baseball team were in action over the weekend in a four-game series against the Cavaliers from Concordia University-Portland. They played the first two games on Saturday, March 23, with the Cavaliers taking both games. They won game one 7-1 and won game two 12-3.
In game one, the Red Hawks sent Joshua Graves to the mound to take on Cavaliers starter Alex Bos. The Cavaliers scored one run in the first, four in the fourth, and two in the sixth to take a 7-0 lead. The Red Hawks finally scored in the eighth inning, when Cameron Cole scored on a Kris Warner ground out. Unfortunately, that would be the only offense that the Red Hawks could get going in the game and they fell 7-1. Bos earned the win, allowing just one run on four hits with seven strikeouts in eight innings of work. Graves got hit with the loss, allowing five earned runs over 5 1/3 innings.
In game two, the Red Hawks sent Andrew Hatfield to the mound to take on Eddie Crowe for the Cavaliers. The Red Hawks scored twice in the first inning, when a Dylan Mumford RBI single brought home Warner. Mumford then scored on an error made by the Cavalier catcher to make it 2-0 Red Hawks. The Cavaliers answer with some huge innings, scoring five times in the second inning and six times in the third inning to make it 11-2 Cavaliers. The Red Hawks scored in the fifth inning, when a Tyler Provost RBI single scored Harold Adams. The scored once in the bottom of the fifth and held on for the 12-3 victory. Hatfield got the loss, allowing five runs in 1 1/3 innings. Crowe earned the win, allowing two earned runs in six innings of work.
