Simpson struggles against OIT

REDDING, Calif. - The Red Hawks' men's baseball team were in action on Friday, Feb. 15, when they hosted the Owls from Oregon Tech. The Owls jumped out early and never looked back, as they coasted to a 21-8 win.
Garrett Greenhaw was on the mound for the Red Hawks against Chase Meister for the Owls.
The Owls took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning. They scored another run in the second to make the score 2-0. They added nine more runs in the third inning. The Owls didn’t stop there, as they tacked on two more runs in the fourth inning to take a 13-0 lead. The Red Hawks got on the scoreboard in the fifth inning, when they scored four times. Dylan Mumford singled, which scored Kris Warner. An Elden Whisman single scored Mumford, and a Tyler Provost double brought in two more runs. In the bottom of the sixth, Whisman’s single Harold Adams and Mumford; Jonathan Ruiz hit a two-run home run to make it 13-8 Owls after six innings. The Owls came right back and scored in the seventh inning to make it 14-8. They added seven more runs in the ninth to close out the Red Hawks 21-8.
Greenhaw was hit with the loss, going 2 2/3 innings and allowing 11 runs (five earned) on 13 hits. Meister earned the win, going five innings and allowing four runs on five hits.
