Red Hawks earn first win

ATHERTON, Calif. - The Simpson University men’s basketball team in the second day of the Menlo College Classic Tournament held in Atherton, Calif., on Saturday, Nov. 9. The Red Hawks earned their first win of the season with a 94-88 victory over Corban University.
The Red Hawks started the first half slow, and Corban led as much as 17 points. Simpson ended the first half trailing 56-41.
The Red Hawks came into the second half willing to fight and slowly closed the gap to get their first pre-season victory. Simpson had its largest lead at six with 5:21 left in the second half and finished the game with a 94-88 win.
Dalton Thacker led the Red Hawks offensively with 25 points and five assists, Ian Corella had 17 points and two assists, Shaquille Jones finished with 16 points and five assists, and Jonnie Washburn scored 12 points.
The Red Hawks will prepare for their next game in against Oregon Institute of Technology on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m. Klamath Falls, Ore.
