REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University men’s basketball team lost their first home game, 89-74, to the Northwest Christian Beacons on Wednesday, Nov. 6.

The Red Hawks slipped early in the game, allowing the first two points to be a dunk from Northwest Christian’s Austin Kuemper one minute into the game. The Red Hawks were able to bounce back quickly with a 3-pointer from Dalton Thacker, which started a battle of exchanging baskets. Simpson went into the half with a 52-45 lead, with key shots by Anthony Williams and Jonnie Washburn.

In the second half, the Red Hawks struggled to stop the Beacons defensively. Northwest Christian continued to attack the paint, and the Red Hawks allowed 40 free throw attempts. The Beacons finished the game with a victory 89-74.

The Red Hawks were led offensively by Washburn’s 16 points and Thacker’s 12 points.

Simpson is preparing for the Menlo Basketball Tournament on Friday, Nov. 8 and Saturday, Nov. 9.
